SUMMARY:P. SAN-JOSE: Three graphene-based recipes towards Majorana bound states
DESCRIPTION:\n         The search for robust topological superconductivity and Majorana bound states continues, exploring both one-dimensional (1D) systems such as semiconducting nanowires and two-dimensional (2D) platforms. Among the latter, substantial effort is being invested in 2D crystals, due to their interesting combination of properties.\n\n\n\nI will discuss three proposals towards Majorana bound states based on graphene heterostructures, which rely on different special features of Dirac quasiparticles in the presence of superconductivity and magnetic fields. I will focus in particular on graphene bilayers encapsulated in transition metal dichalcogenides that, unlike other approaches involving graphene’s Quantum Hall regime, require weaker magnetic fields and do not rely on interactions. \n
