Alexei Chepelianskii received the Grand Prix Jacques Herbrand of the Académie des Sciences

The 2018 Jacques Herbrand Prize was awarded to Alexei Chepelianskii of the LPS during the solemn meeting of the Academy on October 16, 2018.

Alexei Chepelianskii is neither a theorist nor an experimentalist, but both at the same time. He is interested in many areas of physics. This allows him to build an original scientific activity of high level, inventive and very productive, characterised by fruitful exchanges between the innovative experiences that he conceives and realises, and the theory he develops to interpret them. The numerous scientific papers he has already published on a wide variety of subjects, ranging from the dynamics of computer networks to the spintronics of organic photoconductors and the out-of-equilibrium physics of the correlated states of electrons in helium, testify to the richness and quality of its scientific activity.

During its solemn annual award ceremony, the Académie des Sciences recognises researchers who, through the originality and quality of their professional careers, contribute to the progress of knowledge and advances in scientific research. The Jacques Herbrand award, one of the 31 Grand Prix of the Académie, is intended to reward young researchers under 35, whose work is judged useful for the progress of the physical sciences or their peaceful applications.
