Inauguration of the building 510


Following three years of renovation work on an occupied site, building 510 that hosts the LPS was inaugurated on Monday, June 24 by Jean-Benoît Albertini, Prefect of Essonne, Alain Sarfati, President of the Université Paris-Sud, Astrid Lambrecht, Director of the CNRS Institut de Physique, Sylvie Retailleau, President of the Université Paris-Saclay and Sylvain Ravy, Director of the LPS.


Also present were Laure Darcos, Senator of Essonne, Cédric Villani, député to the National Assembly, David Ros, Mayor of Orsay, Jean-François Vigier, Mayor of Bures-sur-Yvette, and Marie-Hélène Papillon, regional delegate of the CNRS Ile-de-France Sud.

The renovation work took place from mid-April 2016 to the end of February 2019, for a total of 34 months of work. Funded by the Plan Campus, this 11100 m² operation has:

  • improved access to people with reduced mobility,
  • improved the thermal insulation for reduced heating consumption,
  • modernised the façades,
  • upgraded the protection of laboratory rooms from vibrations, noise and electromagnetic interferences,
  • refurbished the reception hall, the Blandin amphitheater, the cafeteria, and meeting rooms,
  • and restored of the mural from Raoul Ubac.
