Magneto-optical study of magnetic semiconductors

Dr Koji ANDO (Nanoelectronics Research Institute (AIST), Tsukuba, Japon)

Magneto-optical study of magnetic semiconductors

Diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMSs) attract much attention because they can be useful for future spintronics devices. Many room-temperature ferromagnetic DMSs have been reported, but their real nature is still under strong discussion. Optical magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy is a very powerful tool to study the electronic structure of DMSs. I will show how the MCD sees the "ferromagnetic" DMSs.
