The PULS group studies electronic properties of quantum materials using ultrafast lasers, observing dynamical properties of matter on the femtosecond time scale (10-15 s). This gives access to fundamental processes in solids, like carrier dynamics, inter- and intra-band scattering, photo-induced band structure changes, excited state lifetime and non-thermal transient phases of matter.
Major research topics are:
- Strongly correlated systems
- Dirac and Weyl materials
- Laser based ARPES
- Ultrafast spectroscopy
