March 8 is a reminder of an important fact: worldwide, only 1 in 3 researchers is a woman. Despite progress, inequalities persist: less than 2 out of 5 STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) graduates are women, and they make up only 12% of national science academy members.
