The Laboratory of Solid State Physics (LPS) will host a CNRS Junior Professor Chair (CPJ) in 2026 as part of the “Innovative Experiments on New Pulsed Neutron Sources” (InnovSON) programme.

This position is intended for an outstanding researcher wishing to develop an ambitious research programme at the interface between fundamental science, instrumentation, and innovation. The project will exploit the unique capabilities of neutron scattering to investigate materials and/or molecular architectures that dynamically interact with their environment in response to physical, chemical, or biological stimuli.

Targeted functionalities may arise from electronic, quantum, magnetic, optical, thermal, or biological properties. Proposed research may also contribute to major societal challenges such as climate change, energy transition, health, and digital transformation, or take advantage of emerging European neutron facilities.

LPS offers a world-class research environment in condensed matter physics, functional materials, quantum phenomena, and advanced characterization techniques. Candidates are invited to propose original projects that build on the laboratory’s expertise and on the opportunities offered by next-generation neutron sources.

The Junior Professor Chair is offered under a fixed-term public-law contract lasting between three and six years. The position includes dedicated research funding to establish an independent research programme as well as teaching activities at Université Paris-Saclay, particularly in the field of large-scale research facilities.

Following an evaluation of scientific achievements and professional aptitude by a tenure committee, the successful candidate may be granted tenure within the CNRS Research Director corps.
