On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science was celebrated.
🏫 To mark the occasion, CNRS Physics organized a feedback meeting for the project “Physicist, why not me?”, which has been running for several months. The project aims to connect female physicists with teenage girls, fostering meaningful exchanges and challenging gender stereotypes in science from an early age.
🔢 The initiative was implemented across 28 schools in the Île-de-France region, involving 28 researchers from 17 CNRS laboratories, including 14 affiliated with CNRS Physics. More than 800 students in 9th and 10th grade had the opportunity to meet these scientists at a key moment in their academic orientation.
👏 The Laboratoire de Physique des Solides (LPS – CNRS / Université Paris-Saclay) is proud to highlight the participation of three of its researchers:
- Alexandra Mougin: CNRS Researcher in nanomagnetism, IDMAG team
- Marta de Frutos: CNRS Researcher at the physics-biology interface, STEM team
- Sandrine Mariot: CNRS Research Engineer in instrumental development for soft matter, MMOI team
We warmly acknowledge their commitment to sharing knowledge and promoting diversity in science.
