We are very pleased to welcome Chunxiao Liu to the LPS team as a CNRS researcher, joining the theory group as a permanent member.

Originally from China, he completed his undergraduate studies at Peking University (Beijing) in 2015, then spent ten years in California pursuing his PhD and later a postdoctoral fellowship at Berkeley.

Our first encounter with him dates back eleven years ago, during his internship in condensed matter theory. Pascal Simon hosted him in the theory group, where he greatly enjoyed his stay at LPS and at Université Paris-Saclay (formerly Paris-Sud).

During his postdoctoral years, he had the opportunity to visit several French laboratories — including ENS, Sorbonne, Toulouse, and Grenoble. These visits had a strong impact on his research approach and helped redefine his scientific interests. Today, he aims to bridge the paradigm of traditional quantum condensed matter physics with new methods and philosophies from other disciplines — such as statistical physics, nonequilibrium dynamics, soft matter, and information theory, among others.

We are well aware of his enthusiasm and curiosity for condensed matter theory, and we look forward to working with him.
