The Laboratoire de Physique des Solides is pleased to welcome Florian Castioni, new CNRS researcher in the Electron Microscopy (STEM) group.
Originally from the Var region, Florian completed all of his engineering studies at INSA Lyon, including an Erasmus exchange year at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg (Sweden). In 2019, he began his PhD at CEA Grenoble – LETI, where he specialized in advanced Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) to explore the properties of semiconductors, particularly III-N alloys used for UV light emission and detection.
His first contact with LPS dates back to spring 2022 during a summer school on electron microscopy. After discussing with Luiz Tizei, co-organizer of the event, he discovered the work of the STEM group on nano-optics — a field that immediately caught his interest. He joined the laboratory in February 2023 for a postdoctoral position and later succeeded in the CNRS researcher recruitment competition in 2025.
Florian is currently developing innovative correlative electron/photon spectroscopy approaches to better understand the dynamic properties of luminescent semiconductors at the nanometer scale. His work contributes to developing essential tools and concepts for studying next-generation optoelectronic materials.
We warmly welcome him and wish him great success in his research within the STEM team!
